21 June : Conference on smart cities & Master thesis presentations

Chair: Mohammad Shahadat Hossain (University of Chittagong, Bangladesh)

14:00 – 14:45: Cognitive Cities, beyond Smart Cities, Olivier Seznec, Novanum

During the past ten years, most of the focus on the smart cities has been on connecting « things » (sensors, objects, people) in order to measure and assess in real time our environment. Very innovative applications have emerged either to better manage cities performance or better serve inhabitants. And the development of the Internet of Things accelerates those applications. In the last 4 years, Artificial Intelligence progress coupled with new user interfaces (such as 3D imaging, BIM (Building Information Modeling), CIM (City Information Modeling), virtual reality, augmented reality), define new interactions capabilities that could be applied to cities. The presentation will cover this perspective and discuss the possible outcomes we can envision related to business, social or environmental impacts.
