General Context:

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in Pervasive Computing and Communications for Sustainable Development (PERCCOM) aims at combining advanced Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) with environmental awareness to enable world-class education and unique competences for ICT professionals who can build cleaner, greener, more resource and energy efficient cyber-physical systems.

Programme overview:

The summer school gathered the two cohorts of PERCCOM students, professors, scholars and industrials expert in Green ICT. The programme was divided in five parts:

1. Workshop on Software Eco-design: Kaliterre company, specialist in software eco-design, presented the concept of Green Patterns to mitigate the energy consumed by software applications. Practical teaching was organised in AIPL computer lab, with the objective to analyse the bad practices in source code and to apply the green patterns. The attendees used Greenspector tool developed by Kaliterre for Eclipse and Sonar. One industrial testimony and one academic presentation concluded the workshop on Software Eco-design.
2. Master thesis Presentations: The students presented the results of their master thesis before professors, students and external attendees. The objective was the attendees have a global overview on Green ICT research topics conducted by PERCCOM students and partners.
3. Session organised by PERCCOM students.
4. Conference on Green IT : Researchers, industrials involved in the Green IT community presented their activies in a plenary session.
5. Closing Ceremony
